Sustainable Fish Feed

A New Generation
of Marine Live Feed

We are developing oyster technology as a natural marine live feed for fish and shellfish larvae

The Organism

Trochophore

A trochophore is the oyster’s first free-swimming larval stage, formed approximately 18–24 hours after fertilisation. Trochophores are small, nutrient-rich and naturally active in the water, it combines several characteristics that make it particularly interesting as a live-feed organism for marine fish larvae.

Unlike a formulated feed, the trochophore is a complete living marine organism. It naturally contains phospholipifs, sterois, proteins and marine fatty acid, and can stimulate the fish larvae’s natural hunting behavior.

From Oyster to Feed

Turning Hatchery Expertise
Into Marine Feed

Ostrea’s trochophores are produced through controlled oyster reproduction. From broodstock (Magallana gigas) and fertilisation to quality control, filtration and cryopreservation, the process is being developed for controlled and reproducible production.
